N. WISCONSIN - President Joe Biden is expected to issue a historic apology today for the 150-year government effort to break up Native American culture, language and identity by forcing children into abusive boarding schools.  A federal investigation commissioned by Interior Secretary Deb Haaland found that Native children at these schools endured physical, emotional and sexual abuse. At least 973 died.  In Northern Wisconsin such schools were in Hayward, Lac Du Flambeau, Odanah and Bayfield with 3 more in the U.P.  The last of the schools closed or transitioned into different institutions decades ago.
