ASHLAND - A UTV rider who walked away from a crash has made their first appearance.

42-year-old Chase Olby of Ashland waived his right to an attorney while in court on charges of operating a ATV or UTV while intoxicated and causing injury and two charges of ATV or UTV-Cause Injury with a blood alcohol level over .08%. Law enforcement was called after an accident with injuries was reported. Apparently Olby was driving and struck an Xcel Energy power pole. The crash knocked out power at a nearby home. Olby had two passengers on the UTV, both had slight injuries. All three people were thought to be intoxicated and weren’t wearing seat belts. Olby’s breathalyzer was .295, well over the legal limit. His next appearance in court is scheduled for January.
