RED CLIFF - A new housing development is set to begin construction in Red Cliff starting this spring. The Giiwedin (North Wind) Community Housing Project will have two buildings with eight units each of one and two bedroom apartments. The community is intended for use by Red Cliff tribal members. The tribal council of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians allocated American Rescue Plan Act funding for the development. Black Wolf Construction in Bayfield will be responsible for the construction. Chairwoman Nicole Boyd said the tribal council continues to prioritize increasing options for the tribal community. The apartments are expected to be finished in March.
