BESSEMER - The Gogebic County Board of Commissioners meet in front of a packed courtroom last night. Earlier this week, information was released that the board planned to vote on a resolution of support for the Copperwood Mine Project by the Highland Copper Company in Wakefield Township.  In response of the proposed resolution the group Protect the Porkies issued what they are calling a "Gogebic County Action Alert" encouraging their followers to email board members to encourage them to vote no, claiming in their post that "The Copperwood resolution is not on the agenda for the meeting but will be added at the last minute in an anti-democratic tactic to stifle public participation" and is encouraged their followers to attend the meeting and they did.  However, the board voted 7 to 0 in Favor of the resolution.  The vote for the resolution was not on the agenda for last night’s meeting.
