IRONWOOD – The Gogebic County College Board of Trustees accepted the proposal from Howard Immel Inc. of Green Bay, WI for the nursing remodel project on the third floor of the Rutger Erickson Academic Building at this meeting Tuesday. This remodel is funded by the associate degree nursing to Bachelor of Science Nursing grant and will not use anything from the General Fund. The remodel encompasses most of the third floor and a part of the ceiling on the second floor. Construction is planned to begin in April with an approximate completion date at the end of July.  The Board also hired Karen Ball, of Ontonagon, as the new Teacher Education Instructor effective August 17, 2025. Ball currently serves as the Registrar and adjunct instructor for GCC and Connie Hicks, retired GCC instructor, was approved as the rank of Emeritus Status. This is a recognition the college gives to those that have made long-term contributions to Gogebic Community College. It is a special honor reserved for a member of the Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff.
