MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Majority control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court is at stake today in an election that broke records for spending and became a proxy battle for the nation’s political fights. Republicans who lined up behind candidate Brad Schimel included President Donald Trump and his adviser Elon Musk. Susan Crawford was backed by Democrats including former President Barack Obama and billionaire megadonor George Soros. Today’s vote is the first major election since November and is seen as a litmus test of how the electorate feels about Trump’s chaotic first months back in office. Wisconsin voters will also make a choice for state superintendent and will decide whether one should have to show a photo i.d. when voting in any election. Hurley voters will have a vote on who represents each ward in the city and the sanitary district. Voters will be asked to choose two candidates for the Hurley School District. Mercer will be choosing town board supervisors, the town clerk and town treasurer. There will also be the question of filling the two vacant seats on the Mercer School District Board of Education. Polls are now open until 8pm.
