PHELPS - The 14th Annual Phelps Maple Syrup Fest is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Phelps School. Phelps is considered the Maple Syrup Capital of Wisconsin, and the festival will celebrate everything maple, from sap to syrup. There will be sugar bush tours, tree-tapping demonstrations, cooking with maple syrup demos, maple taffy-making on the snow, as well as a maple syrup contest, honoring the best in maple syrup production. Sunrise Lodge will run the Maple Café, offering breakfast, including French toast, maple sausages, apple maple crepes, and desserts. Alice in Dairyland, Wisconsin’s agriculture ambassador, will be on hand and there will be an arts and crafts fair held inside the school, with face painting and other activities for the kids. More information can be found on the Phelps Maple Syrup Fest Facebook page.
