LAND O’ LAKES - The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office said a plane crashed near Land O’ Lakes yesterday morning. Vilas County dispatch received a 911 call at 11:15 a.m. yesterday morning reporting the crash on County Highway B near the Land O’ Lakes Post Office. The 67-year-old pilot from Watersmeet, was not hurt in the crash. A passenger in the plane had minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Several state, local, and federal agencies responded to the scene, including the Land O’ Lakes Fire Department, Vilas County Emergency Government, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, National Traffic Safety Bureau, Federal Aviation Administration, and the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
