BESSEMER – Today is the kickoff for the 44th annual Pumpkin Festival in Bessemer.  Geocaching begins at noon.  Maps are available at the Bessemer Dairy Queen and the Pumpkinfest Facebook page.  Free Carnival rides open tomorrow at 5:00, and Saturday is Family Fun Day with free carnival rides, food and vendor booths, games and contests.  Live music and tons of family fun activities.  Pumpkinfest runs through Saturday.
