MICHIGAN - The U.S. is up to 1,001 confirmed measles cases.  Michigan has nine confirmed cases of measles all downstate.  The best way to avoid measles is to get the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine. The first shot is recommended for children between 12 and 15 months old and the second between 4 and 6 years old.  Measles first infects the respiratory tract, then spreads throughout the body, causing a high fever, runny nose, cough, red, watery eyes and a rash.

MICHIGAN / WISC - A coalition of 15 states including Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota is suing over President Donald Trump’s efforts to fast-track energy-related projects, saying the administration is bypassing environmental protection laws and threatening endangered species, critical habitat and cultural resources. Trump issued an executive order declaring a “national energy emergency” on the first day of his presidency. The order urges oil and gas expansion through federal use of eminent domain and the Defense Production Act. The attorney’s general wrote in the lawsuit filed Friday that those kinds of steps are supposed to be reserved for actual emergencies like the aftermath of hurricanes. White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers says the president has the authority to determine what is a national emergency, not state attorneys or the courts.
