BAYFIELD COUNTY - After a petition by attorney Aaron Nelson and Bayfield County DA Kimberly Lawton, Judge John Anderson agreed and ruled that the murder case of 16-year-old Daniel Wilber should be heard in juvenile court. If Wilber were to be found guilty of first-degree homicide in an adult course, the only sentence available would be life in prison. Daniel’s attorney Aaron Nelson said he’s confident Daniel would not do anything similar in the future. Judge Anerson’s decision means going forward, the case will not be open to the public in the same way as adult proceeding. Judge Anderson was reluctant to agree, and said he hoped the decision wouldn’t come back to haunt him, calling it a leap of faith.
