N. WISCONSIN – Strong and Severe Thunderstorms missed us in the most part here on the Gogebic Range yesterday by in Northern Wisconsin thousands of people work up without power this morning.  As of early this morning Wisconsin Public Service showed over 10,000 people without power throughout Northern Wisconsin. Vilas County has the most outages in the area with nearly 7,400.  Oneida County has over 1,100 people without power.  On its website, WPS says they are working to safely and quickly restore power.  Rain changing to snow this morning as cold air pushes in today.  Some areas could see up to two inches of snow today.

HURLEY - A couple of areas in the Hurley K-12 School will soon be getting a new look and new equipment. The existing tile floor in two areas is 35 years old and in need of replacement. Kevin Genisot, district administrator for the Hurley School district says the new floor will be most welcome. New flooring in the commons area will cost $27,500 and the northern-most hallway floor around $14,250. The new flooring will be the same as what is currently in the library area. Northwoods Manufacturing, the school’s student run business, will soon have a paint booth and compressor, funded by a Wisconsin Fast Forward grant. The grant totals $11,850, and the Hurley Education Foundation matched it with another $12,000, which will cost $24,000.

IRONWOOD – Feeding America and Union Station Food Bank have partnered in providing a mobile food pantry distribution tomorrow April 30th at 10am in downtown Ironwood.  The distribution site is at the Union Station Building on East Ayer Street in Ironwood.  The mobile food pantry will provide a variety of food products to approximately 250 – 300 local families in need.  Food will be provided in a drive-through format, west along Ayer Street in front of the Union Station Building on a first come, first served basis.  Please allow space in the back of your vehicle for food items to be loaded.
