UPPER MICHIGAN - A package of bills to ban local governments from enforcing sanctuary policies in Michigan has passed a State House committee.  The Michigan House Government Operations Committee passed the bills by a vote of 3-2. The bills would withhold revenue sharing from sanctuary cities and municipalities. Republicans sponsoring the bills say the purpose is to encourage communities to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.  Democrats say they are concerned taking funding away from communities could do more harm than good.  The next step for the bills is a vote in the full state House of Representatives.
