MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican lawmakers in Wisconsin want to change state law to allow candidates to remove their names from the ballot. This would address an issue that arose after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wanted to get off the presidential ballot last year but couldn’t. Kennedy last year wanted to get removed from Wisconsin and six other swing states after dropping his independent bid in late August and endorsing Republican Donald Trump in the tight contest. Wisconsin law did not allow Kennedy to get off the ballot. But a bill circulated yesterday would allow candidates to ask to be removed.
