HURLEY - The Hurley City Council approved a new fee schedule for city businesses and raised the adult entertainment license fee from $300 to $600 a year, with a reevaluation of those fees next year. The council voted unanimously to approve that increase. Hurley has six adult entertainment businesses on the lower east end of Silver Street. Also at the meeting, the developer of the pending Cobblestone Hotel let the board know that the company has purchased a 10-acre parcel on U.S. 51 and reported that site preparation is expected to start in the Spring.
