UPPER PENINSULA - According to the National Weather Service near Marquette there is more frost in the ground that could cause problems with water and sewer pipes freezing. In the central U.P. the frost depth is right around a foot, normally it’s about 2 or 3 inches. The deep frost line is because of slightly less snow in December and the colder air in January. The Weather service says some areas around the U.P. are seeing close to three feet of frost in the ground right now.
