IRONWOOD - A business in Ironwood will be receiving a Circular Economy Grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy. The grant is part of an initiative to support repair, re-use and recycling efforts in the state. NextCycle Michigan selected Ramme’s in Ironwood to receive $150,000. Next Cycle assists in awarding funds to state counties and provides opportunities for consulting, marketing and mentorships. Rammes will use the funding to buy equipment and hire additional staff to recycle copper from holiday lights, extension cords and other plastic-coated materials containing copper. The goal of NextCycle and the grants is to support the development of supply chains in the state involving waste material reuse, repair, remanufacturing, recycling, organics recovery, composting and increasing markets for recovered materials. Ramme’s in Ironwood was chosen from 71 applicants both from the state and a few out of state.
