CALUMET TOWNSHIP - A Houghton County man is in jail, accused of distributing meth, and a large drug investigation continues. According to the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team, the man was arrested yesterday following a several month-long investigation. Detectives from UPSET along with troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post and deputies from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office carried out a search warrant at a Calumet Township home. A 25-year-old suspect was arrested on charges relating to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The suspect was brought to the Houghton County Jail and is pending arraignment in Houghton County District Court. His name has not been released. Detectives from UPSET along with the Houghton County Prosecutor’s Office are working collaboratively on a larger investigation involving multiple people distributing illegal drugs in the area.
