IRONWOOD – Gogebic County Fair Winning a Competitive Grant. Several counties in the U.P., including Gogebic County have been awarded grants from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to improve and support their fairground facilities and expositions after a rigorous application process that culminated with the awards announcement .on Thursday. The grants were part of almost $1.6 millions distributed to 29 grant applications. The Alger County Fair and Houghton County Fair Association along with Gogebic County received funding. Gogebic’s allocation of $80,000 will be used for accessibility and safety improvements. This year’s Gogebic County Fair will be August 7th through the 10th.
