IRONWOOD – Two Ironwood Public Safety Officers were awarded a Life-Saving Award of Commendation for their quick actions in a downtown Ironwood Fire last March.  The City of Ironwood recognized the heroic efforts of Public Safety Officers Colin Clausen and Kevin Stevens for their swift actions at the fire structure at Lutey's Flower Shop & Greenhouse. Clausen and Stevens observed strong north winds blowing flames and heavy smoke against the adjacent residence. Clausen and Stevens entered the residence and assisted the female in evacuating the residence.  The victim received immediate medical attention from Beacon Ambulance and was treated for smoke inhalation. Both officers were awarded the Life-Saving Award of Commendation by Ironwood Public Safety Director Andrew DiGiorgio.
