WAKEFIELD - A Wakefield man has been appointed to the state’s Ski Area Safety Board by state Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Benjamin Bartz will represent U.P. Ski Area Managers starting June 9th through June of 2028. Bartz is chief of mountain operations at Midwest Family Ski Resorts. He attended Gogebic Community College and got his associates in ski area management there and holds a bachelor’s in ski area management from Northern Michigan University. He fills the position held by Samuel Bracket who resigned recently.
