ONTONAGON - Ontonagon County is now the site of an off-road vehicle charging network. Snowmobilers and ATV fans are going electric and need a place to plug in. A $700,000 grant from the Michigan Office of Future Mobility and Electrification has helped Polaris industries open four charging stations. The network will support 100 miles of state-designated off-road trails in the U.P. The four charging stations are in Ontonagon, White Pine, Bergland and Greenland. Texas based Yotta Energy provided the technology and hardware to Polaris. The stations can connect to the grid or operate completely independently. There is even a Polaris outfitter near Ontonagon that offers a rental fleet of Polaris’ new electric Ranger XP Kinetic vehicles to familiarize local sportsman with the new electric vehicles.
