IRONWOOD - The Ironwood School District is coming closer to hiring a new superintendent to replace Superintendent Travis Powell. Powell has served Ironwood Area Schools for the past six years and will be the new director of instructional services with the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District. Powell attended his last school board meeting on Monday, and at that meeting, the board announced that it has approved a hiring committee that will enter final negotiations with Daniel Martinson for the superintendent’s post, who is currently the assistant principal and athletic director of the Ironwood School District.
