VILAS COUNTY - A romantic relationship between two Vilas County officials has created discomfort and questions regarding the individual’s ability to perform their duties.

The relationship between Vilas County Court of Courts Beth Soltow and Vilas County Circuit Court Judge Daniel Overby has been an issue for the last two years. Both are elected to their posts and are still serving out their terms. The more than friendly association between two married individuals has caused a hostile work environment in the courthouse, with some resigning their positions due to the atmosphere. Concerns voiced by staff and others as to whether the positions the two fill are being compromised by the relationship have been voiced and are being discussed by other officials.
