BESSEMER - Demolition of the former Gambles building on Sophie Street in downtown Bessemer is scheduled within the next few days, perhaps starting as soon as today.  The public is asked to avoid that area while work is taking place.  The city also advises no parking in the 200 block of Sophie Street to allow contractor equipment to move freely.
