UPPER MICHIGAN - Safe and Just Michigan is hosting an Expungement Fair at the Upper Peninsula Michigan Works! office in Marquette on Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. The goal of the fair is to help screen residents of the U.P. and help them on their way to getting their record cleared. According to Kamau Sandiford, the program manager of Safe and Just Michigan Clean Slate, in Michigan, a person can have up to three eligible felonies and unlimited misdemeanors expunged. Free background checks, fingerprinting and volunteer attorney will be available to help fill out paperwork and instruct on the next steps in the expungement process. For more information go to safeandjustmi.org/take-action/events.
