LANSING -Michigan corrections officers are saying they’re overworked and understaffed.  The President of the Michigan Corrections Organization sent a letter dated July 3rd to Governor Whitmer spelling out the challenges they are facing and went as far as suggested an unprecedented move to bring in the National Guard for help.  There are 26 prisons in Michigan. Half are operating at greater than 20 percent vacancy rates for corrections officers and five of them are over 30 percent
