VILAS COUNTY - The town of Plum Lake is now waiting for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Vilas County to approve an ordinance passed by the town board which will allow for full public access for ATV’s and UTV’s on state and county roads in Plum Lake. The town board after a special board meeting at the beginning of August and the ordinance passed unanimously. The board will also be submitting the ordinance and formal requests to open roads to the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and the DNR, along with signing a memorandum of understanding with the Sayner Barntstormer’s Snowmobile Club. Local business owners are excited for the opening up roads, as they say the ordinance will bring more people into town and into their establishments.
