December 10, 2025:

It snowed steadily all day yesterday and there’s more in the forecast. Temps should sit in the mid-20s today, then start dropping hard. By Friday we’re looking at around -10°F, with sub-zero temps likely through the weekend. Great news for freezing up the wet spots and Lake Gogebic, but it’ll be frigid if you’re heading out on the trails — plan ahead and dress for it.

Gogebic Area Grooming Update:

The groomers have been working hard. Here’s the latest:

  • Trail 1 North: Passable to White Pine.

  • Trail 1 South:

    • Passable from Marenisco to PI.

    • Groomed from Marenisco to Job Corps Rd; the remainder will be groomed soon.

    • Passable and groomed from Marenisco north to the end of FR 8800.

    • Closed from FR 8800 north to Copps Tower Rd.

  • Trail 8 East: Open to Ewen and groomed.

  • Trail 8 West:

    • Open to Wakefield (opened Tuesday) and safe to run.

    • Expect twiggy brush and wet spots — early-season conditions.

    • Follow signs.

    • GAG plans to send a drag down tomorrow evening.

  • Trail 13 North: Groomers will attempt to get 13N opened today.

  • Trail 13 South:

    • Passable from the 100/13 intersection north to Camp 6 Rd, but ungroomed with many whips.

    • From the 100/13 intersection southeast to the Trail 2/13 intersection is still closed (waiting on reroute approval).

  • Trail 2: Groomed and flat through Marenisco and up to the Trail 1 split to PI.

  • Trail 100:

    • Groomed to Hwy M-64 with wet sections.

    • Passable from Hwy M-64 to the Trail 13 intersection, but rocky with many whips.

The Bergland crew reports that 102, 13S and half of 13N are CLOSED and that they are currently working with the DNR to secure assistance to aid with trail cleanup.  For safety reasons, riders are advised to stay off these trails until they are officially opened!

The Marenisco crew reports that all open trails are passable and ready for full grooming this week.
