UPPER MICHIGAN - The Michigan DNR is teaming up with MDOT to keep drivers and wildlife safe. They’re conducting a new statewide study.  MDOT has been awarded $467,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation for a new study on wildlife crossings. The goal is to identify wildlife collision hotspots.  The study will focus on wildlife, including white-tailed deer, moose, elk, bears and turkeys. Deer account for 55,000 vehicle crashes in Michigan each year.  The total cost of the project is $584,000, with an 80/20 split between the federal funding and MDOT.
