LANSING - The Michigan National Guard has received orders to deploy to the Southwest Border to help Federal Law Enforcement.  The 1463rd Transportation Company out of Battle Creek will assist U.S. Customs and Border Patrol with their security mission and allow agents to conduct their law enforcement duties.  This is the fifth time the Michigan Guard has been asked to deploy to the border. The last time the 1463rd was deployed was in Iraq in 2008. They are expected to be on deployment for a year.
