IRONWOOD - Students Will Soon Have Another Choice for Driver’s Ed. Soon, those who need driver’s training in order to obtain their license will be able to attend that training at the Gogebic-Ironwood Airport. The airport board at its meeting on Monday voted to approve a plan to hold that training after a presentation from the Michigan State Police. The MSP plan is to hold the course three times a year, with the airport shutting down for the day to allow for the course. The airport will have to obtain permission to shut down from the FAA and if approved that permission will last for a year and a half. Parents and guardians of driving students would fill out a standard waiver of liability. The State Police stressed that holding training at the airport would allow students to learn in a safe environment without the possibility of non-participants interacting with students.
