BAYFIELD - A much loved event that helped support a local charity will continue, with a new partner…Earlier this year, the Bayfield Rec Center announced that it would no longer put on the Polar Bear Plunge as one of its fundraisers, citing a lack of organizational capacity to run it any longer. According to TheDailyPress, Bayfield Middle School teacher Eric Iversen hated to see the event go, so he contacted the superintendent of the Bayfield School District as to whether the district might be interested in sponsoring the plunge this year. The district has announced it will use the Plunge as a fundraiser for a number of school groups, with the event scheduled for Saturday the 15th. Organizers hope to have the Polar Bear Plunge as a fundraiser for the Bayfield Fire Department and EMS Services which has cut the hole in the ice year after year and have provided safety for this annual event.
