UPPER PENINSULA - Earlier this week, the U.P. got a taste of summer with temperatures well above normal.  Was that a taste of what we can expect this summer?  The National Weather Service office in Marquette says maybe.  National Weather Service Meteorologist Greg Sova says long-term models are divided since the region is transitioning out of the El Niño pattern.  Which really leaves a lot of scenarios open for the U.P. for this summer. Current outlooks are very divided on whether we’ll be above normal, below normal or closer to normal.  Sova said it is still too far out to say what the finer details of summer will look like.  Sova says last winter was within a typical range of what the season should look like. He said that has created a longer-term resistance to droughts.
