IRONWOOD - The results of the Red Bull Copper Peak 400 are in. The race held this past Saturday had more than 700 entrants, with 506 successfully completing the climb. Competitors from across the country made their way over 1300 feet on the natural ski hill before beginning the arduous climb of the Copper Peak Ski Jump, thought to be the highest in the world. Ian Torchia of Ann Arbor, winner of the Red Bull 400 in 2018, again claimed first in the men’s division with a time of 4:40. Nick Niemi of Hancock placed second with 4:50, and Colin Freed of Minneapolis came in third with 4:58. In the women’s division, Kristen Monahan of Houghton won first place with her time of 6:30, while Carolyn Warren of Ironwood placed second with 7:08 and Abby Samardich of Bessemer came in third with 7:23. A racers view of the 400 can be found on YouTube.
