GOGEBIC COUNTY - There will be an important Beacon Ambulance millage on the ballot for residents of Gogebic County in August. The millage that would continue to support emergency medical services in the county will be up for a vote. The amount of the millage won’t change and will allow the county to continue to contract for emergency medical services from Beacon Ambulance and Aspirus Medivac. Since the closure of Aspirus Ontonagon, readily available emergency services are critical to the area. The vote would renew ensure continued funding for those services for another three years. There will be two informational meetings on the millage next month. Monday July 8th at 3 and 4:30 pm at the Watersmeet Town Hall and Thursday July 18th at 3 and 4:30 pm at the Ironwood Memorial Building Auditorium.
