N. WISCONSIN - Wisconsin DNR reminding UTV/ATV drivers proper safety precautions ahead of 4th of July holiday.  So far this year 17 people have been killed in ATV/UTV crashes throughout the state. Most of the riders were not wearing seat belts or helmets, as well as alcohol and speed were contributing factors. Riders under the age of 18 are required to wear DOT certified helmets.  Drivers are also urged to take an online safety course in order to operate their vehicles safely.  If an operator is involved in a crash Wisconsin law requires the incident to be reported to law enforcement officials. Riders must also submit a written report to the DNR within 10 days of the incident.
