IRONWOOD - The state gas price average is on a downward trend, falling 10 from a week ago.  According to AAA of Michigan, drivers across the state are paying an average of $3.68 per gallon of regular unleaded gas. That price is still 8 cents more than this time last month, but 7 cents more than this time last year. The national average is also down 4 cents from last week to $3.47 per gallon.  The lower price might not last, Lower gasoline demand amid higher oil costs may lead to flat or slowly rising pump prices.  Around the Upper Peninsula, the lowest average is in Gogebic County at $3.49 per gallon with Ironwood prices even lower at $3.30 a gallon this morning, the highest prices are in Mackinac County at $3.87 per gallon.
